Eric Wencel

Hi there, I'm Eric, Founder and Creative Director of Magic Sidewalk.
My planning career can be summed up in five words:
Make Planning Accessible To Everyone
 

As a student I was continually struck by the amount of distrust and disconnection that community members felt toward planning efforts. Much of this stemmed from simple fact that planning and zoning concepts are not the easiest topics to grasp - even when you've got a degree in the field! I began to use my skills as an artist and talented communicator to translate these concepts into illustrations that anyone could understand. Something clicked.

Fast forward a few years and I now have over a decade of experience creating graphics and communication materials for history-making and award-winning planning and zoning projects across the United States.

In Spring 2025 I launched Magic Sidewalk, a creative services studio that combines my work in the planning, photography, and animation fields to form the ideal graphics and communication partner for planning and zoning projects.
